Hello, World

Welcome to my corner of the internet.

I’ve been meaning to set up a proper home on the web for a while. Something simpler than a social media profile, more permanent than a newsletter issue, and mine to keep. This is it.

What I’ll write about

My work sits at the intersection of a few areas I find genuinely interesting:

  • Applied machine learning — the gap between ML research and real-world deployment is wide and fascinating. I’m interested in what actually works, at scale, in messy environments.
  • Responsible AI — not as a compliance checklist, but as a design philosophy. Who benefits? Who bears the risk? Who was in the room when the system was built?
  • Sustainability — AI systems have a physical footprint. Data centres consume water and energy. This is worth thinking about carefully.

I also do science communication in Italian, which opens up a different kind of challenge: translating not just words, but intuitions.

Neuromatch

I volunteer with Neuromatch, which runs open, accessible courses in computational neuroscience and deep learning. It’s one of the better examples I’ve seen of what global, community-driven science education can look like. I’ll write more about that here too.

If any of this overlaps with what you’re thinking about, I’d love to hear from you. Find me on Bluesky, Mastodon, or LinkedIn.
